Little House Balham is the latest addition to London’s Soho House family, and it’s also our first club south of the river (not discounting Brixton Studio, of course, where members have met, worked and played since October 2021). Last week, Founder members and creative people from the local community gathered to celebrate Balham’s launch over a few rounds of Picantes and wood-fired pizzas served up by Cecconi’s.
Just a short walk from the station, Little House Balham is located within a residential property on Bedford Hill and decorated in the style of the 1940s, replete with antique mirrors, wood panels, and low-key ambient lighting. The main areas of the House include the club space with a central horseshoe-shaped bar and Club Cecconi’s, a Venetian-inspired restaurant for members.
On the night, guests shared a drink under ceiling artwork specially produced for the space by local artist Miranda Forrester. The House’s wider art collection includes pieces from a number of emerging and established artists who call south London their home, including Naiza Khan, Lucy Spanyol and Faye Wei Wei. With the soundtrack for the evening provided by Jamz Supernova and Soho House resident Taylah Elaine, the evening was the first glimpse of many good times to come.
